What to check during a viewing
A viewing is a chance to check how the place works, not just how it looks. Test what you reasonably can: lights, windows, doors, locks, faucets, appliances, heating, cooling, and storage.
Look for signs of leaks, dampness, poor ventilation, cracks, pests, noise, weak lighting, or repairs that appear unfinished.
Notice shared areas too. Entryways, stairs, elevators, laundry rooms, parking, trash areas, and exterior lighting can tell you a lot about daily use and maintenance.
